Preschool

Montessori is an educational approach that focuses on the unique needs and development of each individual child. Developed by Dr. Maria Montessori in the early 20th century, this method is rooted in the belief that children learn best when they are allowed to explore their interests and follow their natural curiosity.

Free the child's potential, and you will transform him into the world.

— Maria Montessori

The Montessori method highlights the absorbent mind in young children, who effortlessly absorb information from their surroundings. This innate ability is enhanced during sensitive periods, when children are especially receptive to learning specific skills. These critical phases enhance their learning experiences and growth.

Our Programs

Toddlers Program

During the toddler age group of 18 months to 3 years, a child is in the Absorbent Phase. The young toddler’s Absorbent Mind has a sponge-like capacity to absorb from the environment around.

ABODE’s Toddler’s program is designed to provide a child with a prepared environment enriched with numerous opportunities for the toddler to evolve into a confident and independent child.

In our Montessori Toddler Program, language enrichment is a key focus. Our program is designed to provide a rich linguistic environment that supports and enhances their natural ability to absorb and develop language skills through songs, storytelling, word games and interactive sessions

Toddlers develop kinesthetic skills through practical life exercises, sensorial materials, and free movement activities. Engaging tasks like pouring, balancing, and climbing support their motor skills and physical coordination.

In our Montessori Toddler Program, Practical Life Activities are essential for building independence, responsibility, and self-esteem. Toddlers engage in self-care, environmental care, and decision-making opportunities to develop confidence and a strong sense of self.

  • Prepared Environments: Classrooms are carefully designed to meet the needs of toddlers, encouraging exploration and learning.
  • In-Class Dining: Areas are designated for meals to help children learn dining etiquette and social skills.
  • Sleeping Corner: Nap area is available within the environment to ensure restful breaks.
  • Child-Sized Restrooms: Facilities designed for young children to use independently.

Preschool

In the Montessori framework, children aged 0 to 6 years are in the "Sensorial Plane," a crucial period characterized by an intense drive to explore, learn, and discover. This stage represents a time of explosive learning, where children are naturally inclined to absorb knowledge through their senses and interactions with their environment. At ABODE, our Preschool Program is designed to harness this innate curiosity and provide an enriching environment that supports sensory exploration and learning.

Key Features

We focus on five key areas of Montessori education, ensuring that each child’s developmental needs and interests are met.

1. Practical Life Activities

Practical Life Activities are foundational to our Preschool Program, offering children opportunities to develop essential life skills and autonomy. These activities are categorized into three main areas:

Activities in this area are aimed at helping children develop independence and self-confidence. Through tasks children learn to perform daily routines with increasing autonomy.

This aspect focuses on fostering a sense of responsibility and respect for their immediate environment.

In this area, children engage in tasks that teach them to care for their broader environment instilling a connection to nature and a sense of environmental responsibility.

2. Sensorial

The Sensorial area caters to enhancing children’s sensory perception and cognitive abilities.

These activities encourage children to explore and interact with different senses, helping them develop a keen awareness of their environment. Children work with materials specifically designed to refine their senses of color, weight, shape, texture, size, sound, smell, and taste.

3. Language Enrichment

Language development is a key focus in our Preschool program, with a carefully structured approach to fostering early literacy and communication skills. Our language enrichment activities are designed to support and enhance the following aspects of language acquisition:

Montessori Differentiators

  • Mixed-Age Classrooms Children of different ages work together in an enriched learning environment. Youngers often learn from watching older children, and older ones reinforce their own skills as they model them. Varied learning materials engage learners of several ages.
  • Personalized Lessons In Montessori classrooms, teachers offer personalized lessons to individuals or small groups based on each child’s interests and readiness. Children learn concepts like numbers, reading, and writing at their own pace, while group activities are kept brief to maintain focus.
  • Multisensory Learning In Montessori classrooms, children work with materials that engage all their senses—sight, touch, hearing, smell, and taste. Art, music, and movement are integrated into their daily routine. The Montessori work cycle provides ample time and space for children to observe, explore, and discover at their own pace.
  • Prepared Environment - In Montessori education, the prepared environment is a carefully organized space designed to support children's independence and natural development. It provides accessible, purposeful materials that encourage hands-on learning, allowing children to explore, choose activities, and grow at their own pace.
  • Montessori materials: Montessori materials in toddler and preschool classrooms begin with simple, concrete concepts and gradually increase in complexity, guiding children toward abstract thinking. These thoughtfully placed, self-correcting materials encourage exploration and help children to support their own learning
